The hat and mitten set was inspired by the beautiful yarn itself. The speckling looks beautiful in twisted stitches of the cable and rib. Simple little lace sections add interest and are simple to knit. If you dislike knitting cables, don’t worry, you only have to do it a few times but I think it is worth it! The name for the set comes from Japanese for “lark” which references the name of this beautiful colourway of TactileDactyl yarn.

Finished Sizes
2 ½ inches (6 1/2 cm) across bottom of cuff
10inche (25 cm) from bottom of cuff to top

Notes
I chose to knit the mittens in a tight gauge as it makes the cable and stitches stand out better when worn. However, if you’d like to make them bigger than the measurements given, please feel free to go anywhere up to needle size 3.75mm/US size 5. It will still give you a nice firm fabric but the final measurements will be bigger so couldbe a better fit for larger hands. When knitting the mittens the fabric will bias a little due to the use of twisted stitches. The bias will disappear when they are blocked.

The yarn colorway featured is Meadowlark, an exclusive colorway by Tactile Dactyl for Knitcrate’s March pop-up shop (which goes live March 6.) Find more information in the Knitcrate Ravelry group.
