If you want a temperature blanket that captures the full breadth of the weather where you live, this pattern if for you! This mitered square blanket is knit diagonally and has 365 blocks that contain the day’s high and low temperature, rather than just one colour for the day. It also has a large block in the bottom corner that states the year the blanket’s temperatures are from.
Each block is knit by picking up stitches of the previous blocks, so there is very little seaming to do at the end.
This pattern includes instructions for both leap-year and non-leap-years. There are also instructions for every number from 0 to 9 so you can customize this for any year.
If you would like a version of a temperature blanket that starts on a day other than January 1st, DM or email me and I will create a custom pattern for you for an additional $5
The pattern is knit to make a blanket that is 171.5 cm x 220 cm (67.5”x 86.5”), but can be adjusted by making smaller blocks.
The number of skeins you will need will greatly depend on what the weather is like where you live and how many degrees each colour represents. The pattern example was knit using 16 colours, each colour representing 5 degree Celsius (9 degrees Fahrenheit) between <35°C to >35°C ( < -31°F to >95°F). You can choose the number of colours you want to use and how many degrees each represents to make a blanket unique to you!
This pattern also comes with an Excel spreadsheet that allows you to track your temperatures and create a digital version of the blanket. The link to to download this spreadsheet is included in the pattern PDF.
