Highland Heather Hat
For a long time I was scared of using circular needles as I couldn’t picture the sizing of the final product in my minds eye and despite endless searches online I could never find a pattern that I thought was straight-forward enough to help me get over this silly phobia.
Then a few months back I decided to take the plunge and using no notes and just my initiative and endless cups of tea I indulged myself with an afternoon of self-explorative knitting. The results have since been honed down and improved and I would love to share this easy but fashionable hat with the rest of the world!
This hat is simple and quick to make and a perfect first project for a budding knitter as well as a fun rainy day enterprise for those who are more experienced with needles and yarn.

The Highland Heather Hat can be made in a variety of sizes and slouchiness (Beanie/Slouchy/Extra Slouchy) and can easily be customised to suit your personal style. The brim is knitted in either one-stitch or two-stitch ribbing to create a tighter or looser fit and the crown creates an appealing star-burst effect.
I usually use about 1 1/2 balls of Freedom Spirit Chunky wool per hat for a Slouchy effect.
