This tam was the first one that I designed, inspired by a trip to Scotland in 2018 and the colours of the Highlands as we drove across the country.

This pattern includes two versions of the chart, one showing just the pattern and one showing the colours I used in my tam.

I used Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift yarn for this tam. I used 6 different colours in my tam, but you can play with colours as you wish. The joy of these hats is seeing how the pattern changes with different colour choices and I look forward to seeing what other hats are knitted from this design.

Requirements:
About 50g of yarn in total. I recommend Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift or Jamieson and Smith 2 ply Jumper Weight, which are the traditional yarns for fair isle colourwork. My finished tam weighs about 42g.

2.0mm US0 and 2.75mm US2 circular needles.
Stitch markers – one for the start of the round and 15 others between repeats.
Wool needle to sew in ends.
