Seeing these three colors together reminded me immediately of highlighter pens. These pops of color will surely make your hat stand out in the crowd!

Highlighter Hat is made of fun color blocks in three contrasting colors. Alternating sections of stockinette and an easy slipped-stitch pattern make this a quick and enjoyable knit. The hat is available in two styles: a closer-fitting beanie and a more relaxed, slouchy style. With or without a pom pom? Why not try both: the pattern includes a photo-tutorial for making a three-color removable pom pom.

The hat is worked bottom up from the brim to the crown using a short circular needle. The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology. Both written and charted instructions are given for the slipped-stitch pattern.

Lang Yarns Novena (50% wool, 30% alpaca, 20% nylon, 110 m/25 g), 3 colors, 1 skein each. The sample is knitted using colors #0165 fuchsia (A), #0011 yellow green (B), and #0079 turquoise (C).

Look for a smooth, round yarn with a lot of elasticity, such as a chainnette or cable-plied yarn.
