Ready for a colorful fall! The Highlights Scarf is a simple pattern that consists of a slip stitch motif layered on garter stitch.

It is knit with two strands of fingering weight yarn held together, in two colors that are interchanged to create a light gradient color scheme. The skills used are knitting, purling, and slipped stitches – making this a perfect project for the beginner knitter. The pattern includes instructions for both long and EXTRA long (pictured) scarf lengths.

Size (not including tassels)
Extra Long (pictured): 110” long (two to three wraps around the neck comfortably)
Long: 85” long (one to two wraps around the neck comfortably)

Materials & Yardage (including tassels)
You will hold 2 different color strands of fingering weight yarn together – the following is total yardage for each color.

Yardage is approximate

Extra Long: 1,250 yards total; 590 yards (Color A), 660 yards (Color B)
Long: 960 yards total; 445 yards (Color A), 515 yards (Color B)

This would be 2x100g skeins of each color (for both sizes) but would give you a good bit of leftover yarn from your second skein of each for another project.
Or, I encourage you to stash dive and create a palette of your dreams with more than 2 colors.
