Highspire Cardigan
Designed to be a classic cardigan with modern details, the Highspire Cardigan begins with a twisted rib, changes to a wide
rib for the back fabric, a waffle stitch for the fronts, and simple Stockinette stitch for the sleeves. Meant to be worn with
comfortable ease, the collar can be buttoned up as a turtle neck or left unbuttoned for varying depths of v-necks.
The finished chest measurements are: 35 (37.5, 41, 42.25, 44, 45.75)“. Choose your size based on the finished chest measurement compared with how much ease you want in your sweater. The sample is shown in the smallest size with about 1.5” of ease.
You will need 920 (1015, 1120, 1235, 1360, 1500) yards of worsted weight yarn, a US size 7 needle (or size needed to obtain gauge) for the body and sleeves, and a US size 5 needle (or two sizes smaller than gauge needle) for the ribbing. For the button bands, you will need a 20” circular needle in the smaller size.
The sweater is worked flat in pieces, seamed, and then the collar and button bands are picked up and worked.
The instructions are written.
And for babies and kids, there is now the Little Highspire Cardigan.
