A great feature is that this cable, shaped like a horseshoe, is easy and quick to knit, as the actual cable twist only occurs every 8 rounds. If you want to make them extra cheerful, knit them in two colors, with a stripe in a contrasting color. You can also switch the main and contrast colors for each sock, or simply knit them in a nice solid color. This pattern describes both the solid and striped versions. This pattern is written for sock yarn with a gauge of 30 stitches X 42 rows. (light fingering weight), If you use a fingering sock yarn (with a gauge of 28x40) the socks will be a little wider.
