Hilbre is an asymmetrical, triangular shawl for those days when something cosy is required to keep you warm from the breeze.
The shawl is knitted flat, from one point, increasing along the ‘wingspan’ edge until the width of the border is reached.
The beautiful lace panel provides eye-catching detail whilst the stocking stitch panel provides you with its familiar warmth.

The gauge is not critical for this project, but it can affect the amount of yarn required and the finished size.

The sample shown has been knit using 5 x 50g (135m) balls of Rowan Softyak in shade 247 Shell. This produced a shawl measuring 170cm along the ‘wingspan’ edge and 95cm border width.

The skills required for this project include; knit, purl, K2tog, ssk and yarn overs. The increasing method is by knitting into the front and back of a single stitch (Kfb).
