The highland cow that has been crocheted for this pattern, has been made using Stylecraft special dk yarn in the following colours but You can use any brand of double-knit for this pattern
Copper, approx 200g
Gingerbread 50g
Parchment 30g
Vintage cotton yarn in
Fawn, approx 50g for the horns
Small amount of white to outline the eyes
For the optional Daisy
Marriner yarns smooth touch double knit white-20g
Marriner yarns smooth touch double knit yellow-10g
Marriner yarns smooth touch double knit pale green-10g Polyester toy stuffing
2 lengths of wire for horns roughly 25cm
Crochet Hooks needed
2.50mm
3.00mm
Using this weight yarn and size hook will give you a cow roughly measuring
40cm measured from the tip of her horn to her feet,
40cm from nose to tail.
32cm from horn tip to horn tip
If you would like a bigger cow you could use Aran yarn (4 weight yarn)
This pattern is easy to follow but requires basic crochet knowledge. It is written in US terms but easy to convert to UK.
