Hills & Valleys Tunisian Crochet Lace Scarf
The pattern row consists of 3 sets of stitches: The first set starts at the top of a “hill” and creates a “valley.” The second set creates the peak of a “hill,” and the third set creates another “valley” and heads back up the final “hill.” The entire row is repeated over and over until the scarf is the desired length. Width can be adjusted by changing the number of stitches in the foundation chain - (multiples of 4) + 1.
Gauge is not terribly important for this project, although yarn weight and hook size will affect the yardage needed and finished dimensions. The lace pattern stands out best if you use a Tunisian crochet hook that is 3-4 sizes larger than the size of standard crochet hook recommended for the weight of your yarn.
The sample shown in the picture required 2 skeins of Malabrigo Dos Tierras yarn to create a scarf 8 inches wide x 60 inches long.
