Hillswick Lumber
Finished Sizes: Bust/chest, buttoned: 41” (45, 49, 53); 104 114.5, 124.5, 134.5 cm
This cardigan sweater uses traditional Fair Isle techniques. The sweater is knit in the round using stranded knitting. The armholes, cardigan, and neck use steeks to enable the pattern to proceed in the round.
This sweater uses 10 shades of greens, blues, and purples. The pattern includes a Norweigan star motif and 2 peerie patterns. Consult the pattern for exact amounts of each color.
The shady greens are enlivened by three purples: a blue-violet in the center of the rosette pattern, a light red-violet in the center of the diamond pattern, and a deep purple at the edges of the small patterns. The wide patterns are light on a dark background, the narrow patterns dark on a light background. Reversing dark and light and pattern and background creates a complex visual effect akin to the fluctuating nature of reality, to what we see when looking at outdoor space, texture, and light, or any complex environment.
