Hilma Sweater
Knitting Pattern for an Oversize-Sweater in a mix colour mix of statement stripes, a boxy fit, balloon-like sleeves and aclassic round neck with a double folded collar in sizes XS | S | M (L | XL | 2XL) 3XL | 4XL | 5XL
Structure:
The sweater is worked top down in one piece: First, the back part is worked back and forth in rows in stockinette stitch and with statement stripes in 2 different contrast colours. There are a bunch of increases to shape the armholes, then the back part is finished off without any increases and the hem is worked in 1x1 ribbing. The front is worked after wards. For the left frontpart, pick up stitches along the backpart, work in stockinette stitch and in statement stripes with increases to shape the round neck and the armholes. Then, finish the left frontpart in stockinette stitch and in statement stripes without any increases – but before working the hem, put the stitches to rest on another rope/leftover yarn. Then, work the right front part the same way you have worked the left frontpart before with the only difference, that the statement stripes are placed offset from each other and that the increases for the round neck and the armholes are mirrored. As soon as you have worked the last statement stripe, pick up the stitches of the left front part and work the hem for the left and the right frontpart in the main colour in 1x1 ribbing. Close the side seams of the sweater and the middle seam on the frontpart with the mattress stitch. Then, pick up stitches along the armholes and work the sleeves in two different contrast colours in stockinette stitch in the round. Before working the cuffs in 1x1 ribbing, work in a bunch of decreases for a balloon like shape. Last, but not least, the double folded collar in 1x1 ribbing is added to the round neck.
The fit of the sweater is oversized and boxy. The sleeves are voluminous and the length of the sweater is relatively short. The eye-catching statement stripes pattern creates a cool look leaving room for many creative ways interpreting the design.
