Hinterlands, the remote or less developed parts of a country; back country: The hinterlands are usually much more picturesque than the urban areas.

An easy shawlette whose beauty lies in the simplicity of the design. Hinterland was inspired by the rural beauty of the mountains where I live and my love of DC stitches.

This shawl can be worked in many different weights of yarn. Yarn from a Fingering to a Bulky may be used. The pattern is worked from the neck edge down in single repeat pattern. You can change the size of the shawl by simply changing the starting chain to produce a smaller or larger shawl of your choice. I recommend a hook three to four sizes bigger than your chosen yarn requires to achieve a lace like effect.

Skill Level: Easy (Suitable for a beginner who has an understanding of basic crochet terms/stitches and has completed several projects)

Gauge is not important, however for the shawl shown in DK Alpace with K Hook, 3 dc = 1”

Stitches used are ch and dc.
