Hippo at the beach
Tammy the Potamus says hi!
He’s waiting for you to take him for a day at the beach.
️
This is an intermediate level pattern, with 44 photos of the process and 2 schemes to help you. It’s almost a no sew pattern, with body and head worked together, and the arms attached as you go. You have instructions for using plastic joints in the legs, or button joints (video link included in the pattern), so you’ll have movable legs.
Alternatively, you can choose a sitting or standing position and sew the legs in the places indicated.
The muzzle and ears are sewn on. The backpack is worked in one piece, with the straps sewn on. The hat, books and towel only involve weaving ends, no sewing.
You must know how to work in continuous rounds, closed rounds and turning rows. Check the images for terminology and materials. In the pattern, you’ll have the code for the yarn colours and brands used.
If done with the suggested yarn, our hippo is about 13 cm (5,1 in) tall and 9 cm (3,5 in) wide (counting the body). As with any amigurumi, you can use any yarn you like (with corresponding hook size), but keep in mind that that will affect the size of the amigurumi.
As you can see, Tammy makes for an amazing toy. You can get him packed for his trip and then play with him.
Don’t leave Tammy waiting and take him with you on an adventure!
