These mittens feature a pattern adapted from a woodcut in a 16th century book of needlework patterns by Willem Vosterman, “Ce est ung tractat de la noble art de leguille ascavoir ouvraiges de spaigne…page 17 verso” (Metropolitan Museum of Art).

The pattern is written to fit small-medium adult, but yarn weight and needle size can be adjusted to modify the chart to smaller or larger sizes. The mittens are knitted in the round.
