These mittens feature a pattern adapted from a woodcut in a 16th century book of needlework patterns by Giovanni Andrea Vavassore
“Opera Nova Universali intitulata Corona di racammi, page 16 (recto)” (the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York).

The mittens are knitted in the round with medium or worsted yarn, and is written to fit medium adult, but yarn weight and needle size can be adjusted to modify the chart to smaller or larger sizes.
