A friend and I once hitchhiked from Smithers in British-Columbia to Gatineau in Québec, a journey of 4555 km! It took 5 days to reach our destination and the best part was connecting with all sorts of random drivers who willingly gave us a ride for a few kilometers or hundreds. It was a simple, delightful journey and this is exactly what I want to share with the Hitchhiker Socks.
These toe-up socks were originally designed with a self-striping yarn but can very well be knit with a solid colour yarn. As you get to the heel there are increases to form a gusset and then a choice of heel flap will have to be made. The pattern includes a stockinette stitch heel flap and a reinforced purl stitch heel flap.
Get your needles and yarn ready and hop on!
