A graphic sock with “sails” crossing back and forth, and a pyramid gusset that looks like another large sail.

The HMS Laconia was the ship that Captain Wentworth of Jane Austin’s Persuasion commanded. He made his fortune taking privateers and returned home to England a rich man and also brought him back to Anne Elliott.

Originally designed for the SKA June 2013 Literary Challenge and for my husband, they are suitable for both men and women. Four sizes (S, M, L, & XL) are charted so you can make these socks for almost anyone.

I made the Large size for my husband and had only a few yards left of my STR skein. The XL size will require more yardage, but could be an excellent place to use some of those leftover bits we all have for the cuff and toes.

This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit.
