Hobbit Mittens
Beautiful and warm, these mittens are a re-imagining in wool of the 50th anniversary edition cover of JRR Tolkien’s “The Hobbit.” I hope you find as much fun and fantasy in these as I did!
Sizing:
I knit these Norwegian style mittens using Cascade Superwash, but you could use a smaller fingering weight yarn to make these into more regular sized mittens (shorter) or sizes for children. To do this, you would have to move the thumb gusset lower and possibly add stitches to the black and grey border. If you are making alterations, be sure to take gauge into account and have fun experimenting!
Attributes:
Stranded colorwork
Thumb gusset
Patterned Knitting
Knitting
Decreasing stitches
Increasing stitches
Amount of Yarn:
I bought one ball of each color for this pattern, however I had a lot of the green and red left over yardage wise. I also had remainder of the white, grey and black, although not enough to use fully for another project.
