PATTERN INFORMATION

This is a brioche stitch scarf. It’s a great beginner project for those who haven’t knit brioche before. Additionally, it’s perfect as an accessory since it keeps your neck warm and adds a pop of color to your wardrobe. It’s knit in super soft cashmere, but can also be knit in other yarn qualities such as 1 strand of mohair and 1 strand of merino. There are instructions for choosing alternative yarn in the pattern.

Length, after washing and blocking: approximately 180 cm

Width: approximately 26 cm

MATERIALS
3 skeins of Mondial Cashmere in Midnight Blue

Circular needle 4.5 mm, 60 cm

ALTERNATIVE YARN
You can also knit the scarf in 100g hand-dyed sock yarn and 50g mohair

One strand of each quality held together.

OR

200g hand-dyed sock yarn.

Two strands held together.

OR

200g DK weight yarn

You will need approximately 300 meters of yarn for each quality. This means that if you knit it with one strand of mohair and one strand of sock yarn, you will need 300 meters of each.

73 grams of fingering weight yarn and 36 grams of mohair
62 grams of Anina (Filcolana 210m/50g) and 37 grams of Alva (Filcolana 175m/25g)
131 grams of Mayflower Easy Care Merino Classic (106m/50g)
82 grams of merino (400m per 100g)
76 grams of Drops Sky (50g = 190 meters) and 40 grams of Kid-Silk (25g = 210 meters)

GAUGE
10 x 10 cm = 10 stitch sets x 23 rows

1 stitch set consists of one brioche knit stitch and one brioche purl stitch.

Vertically, you can count the knit stitches as in regular knitting, but you need to be aware that you need to knit 2 rows to see 1 knit stitch. That means if you can count 4 vertical knit stitches, you have actually knit 8 rows.
