Hōkū Hat
by Leila Raven
Hōkū means “star” in the Hawaiian language (‘Ōlelo Hawai’i). The smock stitch reminds me of the stars drawn together to create constellations that light up our night sky. This hat is a perfect project to play with color and would be beautiful worked in five (or more!) colors for a more gradual shift, or in a single, solid color that lets the smock stitch pattern take center stage.
