Holiday Baby Hat
This is a fun holiday knit, to be customized as you want. Make it for the favorite baby in your life.
Size: This pattern comes in 3 sizes. Measure the size of your child’s head to determine which size you want to use.
Finished sizes are as follows:
• Size 1 – hat size is 15” (Fits newborn head size approximately 14” or 15”)
• Size 2 – hat size is 17” (Fits baby approximately up to a year)
• Size 3 – hat size is 19” (Fits toddler)
Measure the head of the baby you are making the hat for, remembering that knits stretch.
Needle Size:
• For Size 1 and Size 2, a circular size 3, 15” length, (dpns size 3 if desired)
• For Size 3, a circular size 5, 15” length, (dpns size 5 if desired)
Gauge:
• For size 3 needles, 5 stiches = 1 inch, 7 rows = 1 inch
• For size 5 needles, 5 stiches = 1 inch, 13 rows = 2 inches
To make sure your hat is the right size, this follow the gauge above. If your knitting gauge is different, adjust the size of your needles so that you achieve this gauge.
Notions: Graph paper, pencil, measuring tape, needle to weave in ends
Yarn: Worsted weight (Such as Caron Simply Soft or Vanna’s Choice). The models shown were worked in three colors. You can modify the design as you wish, but one way to use the three colors is one color for ribbing and stripe A, one for stripe B and picture, and one color C for the band background. If you do it this way you would need the following:
Less than one skein each of:
Color A (Ribbing and Stripe A)
Color B (Stripe B and Picture)
Color C (Picture Band background)
But feel free to customize as you want. If you want to add accents, small amounts of colors desired.
