’Tis the season for advents! I’m so excited to partner with Dianne of Suburban Stitcher Yarn for the 2024 Seaside Holiday advent.

Be sure to check back here or on Instagram each day from December 1-25 for a photo of that day’s color worked into the cowl. On day 25 I’ll also include a photo of the seamed edges to show how that looks when finished.

The Holiday Tides Cowl is worked flat and seamed together at the end. The pattern is simple, but engaging, easy to memorize, and each color section in the small size can be worked up in about 30-45 minutes. If you choose to do the large size, it’ll take you about double the time each day.

My goal when I design advent patterns is that they are interesting, but not overly complicated. December is always a busy time of year and crafting is meant to be a way to relax amidst all the chaos, so I want my advent patterns to bring a small pocket of peace to your days throughout the month. A short window of time each day to just enjoy the feel of the beautiful yarn through your hands as you work on this pattern. I hope you feel that as you work on this pattern.

My sample is worked up in the Small size. This uses about 8g of yarn for each color, just slightly more for Color 1 due to the setup row. While I don’t mind having leftovers, I recognize that people may want to use a bit more of each of their colors, so I included a Large size to help use up a bit more of your yarn, around 16g of each color. The advent includes 25 20g mini skeins. The cowl will work through 25 color sections, for a total of either 200g or 400g of yarn, depending which size you choose.
