Knit in the round with 3 fingering-weight yarn colors, this cowl features a holly leaf border, with a styled Green Man/holly leaf pattern as a central motif. Inspired by the Ogham alphabet and it’s lore, the Holly tree second only to the Oak in power. Holly was associated with protection, luck and was said to enhance one’s dreams.

If substituting yarns, the sample used 110 yards of the MC (dark green), 79 yards of CC1 (red) and 81 yards of CC3 (gold). Choose a fingering-weight yarn with a nice drape and little to no halo to help show off the colorwork pattern to best advantage.

The pattern may be easily expanded to a wrap-able cowl by doubling the stitch count/motif repeats, and doubling your yardage requirements.

The yarn pack is available at The Yarn Guys or at Wooly Wonka Fibers.
