hollybank shawl
It was the colours of these yarns that gave me the idea for this shawl. Pastel shades of pink, mint green, sky blue and creamy yellow conjuring up childhood images of Spring.
Many years ago we used to visit my Nan’s caravan at a campsite in Hastings and the first visit of the year always happened in the Spring after the caravan had been locked up for the Winter. It would be a weekend of throwing open windows, shaking out mats and generally “spring cleaning” in the truest sense of the word.
Surrounded by woodland, the caravan was in a small glade called “Hollybank” and my memories of those delightful Spring days will always be of birdsong, wild daffodils and the very bluest of skies…..
Hollybank is knitted end to end on the bias. In four distinct sections it incorporates a combination of garter stitch, lace and stripes so is an ideal pattern for both beginner and intermediate knitters.
Knitted in 4 ply yarn, this would be a great shawl to use up odd skeins and remnants as it’s not limited to the four colours shown.
The finished shawl has a beautiful drape and would be perfect for cool Summer evenings …..
