This pattern for adult fingerless gloves comes in 3 sizes:

Small: 15 – 19 cm (6 – 7.5 inches)
Medium: 19 – 23 cm (7.5 – 9 in)
Large: 23 – 27 cm (9 – 10.5 in)

Written instructions and chart are given on separate pages for each size and for each glove (left / right). You don’t need both the written instructions and the chart, one or the other is enough. Instructions are in English, using US, UK and metric measurements and needle sizes.

I also have a pattern for a matching headband; you will get a 25% discount when buying both the Hollyhock headband and the gloves.

All my patterns are using Calibri font size 13 in black on white, making them accessible and easy to read on different screens and when printed. All abbreviations and acronyms are explained in the pattern.

I include instructions to measure your hand and determine your size. You can make the gloves smaller than the standard S size (e.g. for children) by using lower-weight yarn, or by reducing the number of stitches on the palm side (I have not tested a smaller size, so I cannot provide more advice for adapting it; you will need to check your gauge and do your calculations).

All sizes are 24 cm long (9.5 in). You can make them longer by repeating the Rows that create ribbing at the beginning and at the end.

Recommended yarn

DK yarn, preferably something that is a little elastic. Approximate yardage needed for one pair of gloves:

• Small: 180 metres (200 yards)
• Medium: 215 metres (235 yards)
• Large: 250 metres (275 yards)

Needles

• Knitting needles of 4mm / 8 UK / 6 US or size needed to obtain gauge.
• Cable needle one size smaller than the knitting needles.
• (optional) Crochet hook (to pick up stitches for the thumb gusset) of 4mm / 8 UK / 6 US. This is not necessary if you are able to pick up stitches without a hook.
• Tapestry needle to bind off.

Gauge: 20 stitches per 10 cm (= 5 per inch) in stockinette stitch.
