Hollyhock Lace Tassel Hat

Romantic and feminine pill box shape hat -
One size (Women).

Charted and written pattern with US and Metric equivalents.

Intermediate skill level.

Single short seam.

Brim is a twisted stitch mirrored lace, with cable accents and garter stitch lower edge.

Brim knit flat, then seamed into round – instructions provided for mattress, 3 needle, or graft joining.

Crown worked in round, with stitches picked up along brim edge and worked on circulars (until DPNs needed) in a segmented inward spiral decrease.

Finished with either a braided tassel, or I-cord and leaves.

145 -165 yards (128 – 145 m) Worsted yarn
I recommend a high animal fiber content yarn

US 6 (4 mm) Straight Needles
US 6 (4 mm) Circular Needles, 16” (40cm) long
US 6 (4 mm) Double Pointed Needles - set of 4 or 5
~ Or needle sizes that get gauge

Darning Needle
12” (30 cm) ruler ~ optional for tassel
Crochet hook (4 mm) ~ optional for leaf stems/join

Stitches

C2 over 2L = cable 2 over 2 left (leaning)
C2 over 2R = cable 2 over 2 right (leaning)
K = knit.
Ktbl = Knit thru the back loop
P = purl.
Ptbl = Purl thru the back loop
TwSSK/Twisted SSK = twisted slip slip knit
TwK2tog/Twisted K2tog = twisted knit 2 together
