Hollywood Wave Scarf
This simple feather and fan variation scarf is easy and addictive to knit. The pattern shows off colors and textures nicely with the gentle curve of the wave and the simplicity of the lace and stockinette portions.
Any variety of yarns may be used to good effect, though very busy multi-colored yarns will tend to obscure the pattern. Solids, semi-solids and long color shifting yarns would work well.
You will need at least 400 yards to make a good length of scarf. Two 50 gram balls of fingering weight yarn, or four 50 gram balls of worsted weight, will make a very generous scarf. You could also use multiple small hanks of handspun, changing yarns as you need, varying the stripes and textures of yarns as you like for a unique scarf that shows off your handspuns.
You’ll knit the scarf in two halves and graft them together at the end. You could knit both halves at once using two balls of yarn, if you’re prone to second-half burnout. It’s a fun scarf to knit with color shifting yarns, and it can be knitted in any weight yarn; the weight and texture and size are all up to you.
