Holy cannoli, this is the first pattern I’ve ever designed! (Hence the name.) I wanted a cowl with some bulk and a bit of a texture, so after some experimentation, this is what I came up with. This easy cowl measures roughly 14” by 60” as written before seaming. The openness of the pattern reduces the weight of the cowl while still providing warmth, and the simplicity of the pattern makes it a fast project!

I did NOT create the pattern for the flower seen on some pictures. That is based on Teresa Richardson’s “Crochet Flower – 3 Rounds.” The leaves are Rhonda Rowley’s “Birch Leaf Appliqué.”

I hope you enjoy the pattern! Feel free to customize it and make it your own. You could omit the solid rows of dc to make an airier cowl, or you could stagger the rows of alternating dc and ch to create a different look. If you’d like it shorter, longer, wider, narrower, that’s easy too! It’s up to you! Also, feel free to sell items you make from this pattern, but please do not sell the pattern itself in any way.
