Holy City Hat
The Holy City Hat is a nod to my beloved adopted hometown, Charleston, SC. Charleston is nicknamed “The Holy City” due to its history of tolerance of all religions and numerous historic churches. While simultaneously trying to mimic the effects of stained glass and playing around with the classic honeycomb stitch, I adapted and created a new stitch. The hat is knit bottom-up. This project is an excellent stashbuster to use up your leftovers from shawl and sock projects, so feel free to play around! The pattern instructions refer only to MC (main color) and CC (contrasting color). Because you may use as few as one CC or as many as ten, arrange them as desired and progress through your unique sequence, changing CC’s at the beginning of each block. That said, if you’d like to work with exactly the Manos Del Uruguay Fino yarn I used, those colors are provided.
