Homage to Faith Doll
This is a rewrite of the original Lynne Coles “Faith” pattern. It is rewritten to be in the round. There is still some sewing, but not near as much.
I have long admired some projcts on Ravelry from user AusJen. I thought her use of the veil really enhanced the original pattern.
I tried in numerous ways to find a link to the original pattern with no success. Since it was free in the first place, AusJen kindly shared her pattern with me. After a number of renditions, the pattern has evolved. AusJen gave me permission to use her veil, although that has also evolved over projects.
I used between 70-90 grams of worsted weight yarn.I used a size 2 needle but whatever size works for you is fine, just make sure the stuffing won’t show through.
The arms and feet are started with Judy’s Magic Cast on and worked in the round. The sleeves are worked in the round. The veil is worked flat. The base of the body is worked flat, then you pick up stitches around the edge and work in the round going up. You insert the arms into the sleeves and then sew the arm/sleeve combo to the body. The feet and veil are sewn on.
I guess if you are unable to do Judy’s Magic Cast on, you could just join in the round and sew up later, but I highly recommend learning it. So many uses!
This was an adorable idea from the original pattern writer. Hope someone can enjoy an in-the-round version.
