Home Shirt Jacket
release day note: thank you for your support of the Home Shirt Jacket! This pattern was made in collaboration with Rachel from Zeezee Textiles and she has generously offered a 15% off coupon code to use on the yarn I used in this design (Heirloom DK - highly recommend - this pattern and this yarn are a beautiful match)! If you purchase this pattern within the first month of its release, there will be a separate document you can download with your pattern after purchasing that includes this coupon code. The coupon expires 3/23/25. Here’s Rachel’s website if you want to browse! https://zeezeetextiles.com
about: The Home Shirt Jacket is knit top-down and seamlessly in a contiguous construction including short rows for better fit around the shoulders. It features a double sided collar with stockinette on both sides, double-knitting in the button band and the sleeve cuffs, including a slit at the bottom of the sleeve to mimic a classic flannel jacket. The body of the jacket is finished off with a rounded split hem using short rows, and an i-cord for a beautiful finish.

However, you may size up or down for a more oversized or closer fitting look if that is what you prefer. If you’re choosing to knit a different size than suggested or you’re in between sizes, be sure to check all schematics to ensure a comfortable fit, particularly check the sleeve schematic if you intend to go down a size.
Gauge: 20 st x 28 rows // 4x4” // 10x10cm in stockinette knit flat and in the round.
Suggested Needles:
body and icord: US 7 // 4.5 mm circular needles (you’ll want two circular needles in this size)
all double-knitting: US 5 // 3.75 mm circular needles
sleeves: DPNs if not using magic loop method for sleeves.
Yarn/Yardage: Heirloom DK from Zeezee Textiles (251yds/229m per 100g) or another DK weight yarn or equivalent that reaches gauge.
Heirloom DK is a non-superwash yarn made up of 40% Shetland Wool , 40% BFL, and 20% Alpaca. The structure and bounce from the wools and the drape from the Alpaca are a wonderful combination for this somewhat structured yet loose, cozy knit.
You may require more yarn if you choose to lengthen your sweater or modify it in any way. Check the schematics on page 5.
1148, 1268, 1401, (1496, 1612, 1787), 1921, 2055, 2209 yards // 1049, 1159, 1281, (1368, 1474, 1634), 1756, 1879, 2020 meters
Materials: stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holders, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, and 7 buttons (20mm)
Construction: The Home Shirt Jacket is knit top-down and seamlessly. First, the collar is cast on using Judy’s Magic Cast on and then knit in the round until the desired length is reached. Stitches are combined and shoulder shaping begins along with short row shaping, followed by sleeve shaping and finally raglan increases. This construction allows for a somewhat tailored fit around the shoulders, yet a cozy oversized look and feel everywhere else. The body is finished with a rounded split hem and i-cord edging. The sleeves end in a slit down the arm and a double-knit cuff, which are held together around the wrist with a button. The button band is double-knit.
