This pattern is a part of my thesis project Homeland Collection, which is a collection of five knitting patterns designed for the wool of Finnish landrace breeds. The whole collection is also available as an eBook.

Homeland is a cozy cardigan with beautiful cable details. The cardigan is worked seamlessly top-down. It starts with working two cabled shoulder straps that you then pick stitches from to work the back and fronts. The cables will continue from shoulders all the way down to the wrists and the back has a show-stopper cable panel. The cardigan is knit flat. The shoulders are shaped with short rows and the body is knit straight. The pattern contains three different length options for the sleeves, so you can get the right fit for your arms. The cable instructions are both charted and written in the English version.

The cardigan is meant to be worn with positive ease. Choose a size with approx. 8” / 20 cm ease at the bust circumference.

Urpolan Tilan Kaiho (100 % Kainuu Grey wool, 270 m/100 g) or other sport weight yarn.

Shown in natural black.

Needles:
3,75 mm (US 5) and 3,5 mm (US 4) - 40” / 100 cm circular needle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge.

Gauge:
22 sts x 32 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch and
24 sts x 34 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm in cable pattern worked flat (after blocking).

Others:
stitch markers, scrap yarn, cable needle, tapestry needle, 6 buttons (0.75” / 2 cm in diameter).
