Yarn

Sample 1 (Yarn A and B are held together):

  • Yarn A: Woollentwine Thrive (100% unspun wool; 100g per plate). 2.5 plates in “Rye”.

  • Yarn B: Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (70% mohair, 30% silk; lace weight; 246yds/25g). 4.5 skeins in “Bark”.

Sample 2 (Yarn A and B are held together):

  • Yarn A: Zeilinger Wool Company pencil roving (100% unspun wool; 250g per plate). 1.5 plates in undyed.

  • Yarn B: Woolen Women Fibers Matsumoto (64% mohair, 36% silk; lace weight; 459yds/50g). 2 skeins in “Beer Garden”.

Yardage: 987 (1101, 1218, 1337, 1440), 1564 (1691, 1797, 1928, 2062) yds of each

Meterage: 903 (1007, 1114, 1223, 1317), 1430, (1546, 1643, 1763, 1885) m of each

Note: Unspun yarns often do not have exact yardages listed because the fragility makes it difficult to measure precisely. It also breaks easily and often requires wet-splicing, which requires more yardage, so I recommend buying slightly more if you have never worked with unspun yarns before.

Alternate Yarn Suggestions:

  • Yarn A: Höner och Eir Nutiden, Wooldreamers Manchelopis, Ístex Plötulopi
  • Yarn B: Knit Picks Aloft, Rowan Kidsilk Haze, Rowan Cashmere Haze
