Honey Basket Sweater
This yoke sweater is a fairly quick and simple knit. You will need to be familiar with knitting in the round short rows.
The yoke is decorated with a textured pattern in a bright multicolored yarn. The body and sleeves are knit with a slip stitch pattern to give it an interesting texture.
Gauge:
5.5 sts/ 8 rows inch (2.5 cm) in stocking stitch after blocking.
6 sts/ 8 rows inch (2.5 cm) in basket weave pattern after blocking.
I know that row gauge is often hard to accomplish – or maybe that’s me – with that in mind I use the inches or centimeters when I talk about length. If you get row gauge then on the smaller sizes, you may find that you have already achieved the length required when working the yoke bands.
The neckline of the sweater is simply the cast on stitches. When I looked for a stretchy cast on, I found The Chinese Waitress cast on. It’s called that because someone learned it from a Chinese waitress. I wish we knew her name. You can find instructions on the link in the pattern. Or, use a stretchy cast on which will look nice as the neckline.
