The Honey Bee pattern is a stuffed “softie” knitted in two colors of light worsted/DK weight yarn with wings made from button/craft thread. Finished size is approximately 10” in length.

The version shown is made with hand-dyed superwash merino (hard to find variegated honey-colored yarn!). Lion Brand’s Heartland is available in a nice brown and honey color; another DK or even worsted weight yarn would work. The gauge is somewhat tight so the stuffing doesn’t show.

This pattern was designed and written to support research into Colony Collapse Disorder, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to leading research and education initiatives, in support of helping beekeepers and natural bee habitats.
