Try knitting rectangle lace shawl in Orenburg technique using my PDF pattern with detailed charts and descriptions. You will enjoy the process of making it and love the result!
This instruction is for those who knows how to read the charts. It consists of the detailed description of each knitting stage and 12 PDF pages of the charts.
All the stitches of the shawl are shown on the charts horizontally. All the even rows of the shawl are shown on the charts vertically.
The shawl are to be knitted in Orenburg downy shawls technique, there are no purled stitches in this technique.
Materials and instruments:
Light fingering (lace weight) yarn of natural fibers 875 – 1640 yards /100g (800-1500 m/100g) consisting of goat down and silk;
or 100% pure wool;
or kid mohair with polyamide (yarn must not contain more than 30% of polyamide);
or wool with silk;
or kid mohair with silk. It is important that yarn should be of natural fibers.
Needles № 1.0 -2.5 mm (US 5/0 –US 1 ½) Choose the needles according to your personal manne of knitting: if your knitting is tight take thicker needles, if you knitting is loose take thinner needles.
Test sample of the shawl:
- Yarn: two strands of Aurora (67% kid mohair, 3% wool, 30% polyamide) 1640 yards/100g (1500m/ 100g),
Must Baby Merino (100% merino wool) 1640 yards/100g (1500m/ 100g)
- Needles: 2.0 mm (US 0)
- Weight: 162 g
- Size: 62 cm x 200 cm (approx. 24 x 79 inches).
