In this fun and eye-catching cowl, the interplay between contrasting colours and textures is emphasized. Less finicky than stranded colour work, contrasting stitches slipped at prescribed intervals create a visually striking cowl. Knit it with your favourite colours, or have fun experimenting with unusual combinations and surprise yourself with the results!

The pattern as written results in a cozy, close fitting cowl approximately 9-10” high and 18-19” around. It’s possible to adjust the circumference of the cowl size by increasing or decreasing your CO stitches. To modify the length of the cowl you can knit more or fewer pattern repeats before knitting your final ribbing rounds and binding off.

For this project, you will need approximately 1 skein or 50gr. of MC AND 1/2 skein or 25gr. of CC in Lana Grossa Cool Wool Merino Big or similar worsted weight yarn.

This project is knit in the round on circular needles. For best results, use 4.5mm needles on 16” cables.

It is possible to achieve a drapier version of this cowl by switching to a sport weight yarn and smaller needles and increasing your CO stitches and the number of pattern repeats. Yarn requirements will remain similar.
