This is a very cool jacket with a hoodie and it closes with a zipper. You don’t need to use a zipper, toggle buttons are an other great to close the jacket, but you need to create loops for the buttons (not in the pattern).
You can make the jacket as long as you want to, just keep going with the pattern until you reach your desired length. You can make t without the sleeves, so it become a hooded vest.

There’s 5 panels you will have to sew together after you finished crocheting; you need to attach the hoodie, and finally make the band.
