Honeycomb Placemats
This is a customizable pattern for a textured, oval placemat made with Tunisian crochet (double-ended hook required!). Gauge in honeycomb stitch is given for Rainbow Cotton (Hobbii) with a 4mm Tunisian hook. For other cotton weights, all the way to worsted, the pattern will work - just use a hook 0-1mm larger than recommended for your yarn, and keep going until it is the placemat is the size you want, remembering the border will add 1-2 cm depending on which border you choose. The first 4 rounds might be challenging for beginners so I have included a link to a Youtube video demonstrating these 4 rounds. The first 6 rounds of this pattern form the basis of my Ripples placemats so once you have mastered them I recommend tackling that pattern. I also link videos to help you with Tunisian purl stitch and honeycomb stitch if you are a beginner to those.
