Honeycomb Poncho for Miss
We knitters have never- ending love for yarn and definitely buy a lot of it. In case… And then we all have balls, skeins or scraps of yarn left from previous projects that we don’t know what to do with, but never want to throw away. So, it’s time to bust your stash! I combined absolutely contrast colour of my leftover yarn and made this eye-catching Honeycomb Poncho for Miss.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
• 2 x 100g balls (470m or 514 yds) using King Cole Big Value Aran 3492 shade yarn.
• 7 x 50g balls (525m or 574 yds) using 7 different shades of Drops Nepal.
NOTE If you substitute another yarn, please check tension and yardage.
• 1 Circular needle 5.00mm x 50cm (US 8).
• 1 Circular needle 5.00mm x 80cm (US 8).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
NOTE Needle size is only a guide - if you get too many stitches on 10 cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, take a smaller needle size.
ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS:
One size: fits up to 8 years. To get smaller/bigger or shorter/longer poncho simply work less/more pattern repeats.
Length: 62cm (24 ½ ins) from neckline to longest hem point (see pic 2).
It is photographed on a model 8 yrs old, height 128cm.
GAUGE (Tension): 16 sts and 32 rows = 10cm (4 ins), measured over honeycomb pattern (garment being washed), using 5.00mm (US 8) needle or size required to give correct tension. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your garment won’t be size shown.
