Quick & Easy SUPER BULKY / CHUNKY Crochet Pattern (written in ENGLISH, US terminology, 1 PDF file) for a trendy transformable headwear - Hooded Cowl Hat that resembles both a modern bonnet hat and a vintage head kerchief scarf.

SIZE: TEEN / ADULT (customizable).
Head circumference of the dummy is 21.7’’ (55 cm).

Crochet skill level required: ‘CONFIDENT BEGINNER / EASY’.

You should know how to crochet:

  • chain stitch (ch);
  • single crochet (sc);
  • half double crochet (hdc);
  • increase (2 sc in 1 st, 2 hdc in 1 st);
  • decrease (skipping 1 stitch).

Detailed Stitch Guide (step-by-step instructions for crocheting all necessary stitches) included.

You will need up to 220 yds (200 m) of any Bulky (Chunky) or Super Bulky yarn (US weight category 5 or 6) with not less than 71 yds per 3.5 oz (65 m per 100 g).

Crochet hook US L-11 (8 mm) and about 1.5 skeins of YarnArt EVEREST MAXI yarn (30% Wool, 70% Acrylic) used to crochet the item in the pictures:
1 skein = 146.5 yds / 7.04 oz (134 m / 200 g).

GAUGE: 12 hdc in Back Loop Only x 7 rows = 4’’ (10 cm).
NOTE: For an oversized slouchy hood, the gauge 10-11 stitches per 4’’ (10 cm) is applicable.

NOTE: Here is a similar model designed for Light (DK) or Medium Worsted yarns:
