This pattern was written before I knew the importance of gauge and yardage requirements. I just grabbed 3 strands of baby yarn casted on and used the yarn till the shortest skein was gone. You can play around with weights, needle sizes etc to get the feel and look you want.
To make sure you don’t run out of yarn, weigh your skeins and use approx. half before decreasing. If you plan on adding the hood use a few grams shy of half.
