This pattern evolved with a set of fingerless gloves I was making, and I decided to make a heavier duty version with a mitten option. The thumb is left free for phone use and dexterity, and the hood can be pulled away from the fingers and buttoned to the back. I have not attempted this version of the glove in anything but super bulky.

The sizing is set by the size of the loom, the stitches used, and the weight of the yarn. For me, it all came out to the size of a long adult men’s, with about a medium width.

The pattern, besides use of a loom, loom tool, and yarn, also needs:

• a tapestry needle
