Hooded Cowl
Cozy and warm for neck, head and ears - this hooded cowl is a trendy way to keep toasty warm this fall and winter!
This pattern has been professionally tech-edited and test-knit. Plus, pattern support is provided.
Instructions are included for 3 different sizes: Age 3 -5, Age 5 - 12, and Teen/Adult.
The skill level is suited to an advanced beginner familiar with a long tail cast- on, working flat, working in the round, knitting, purling, decreasing and a three-needle-bind-off.
I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn for this pattern. You can substitute any bulky yarn.
Gauge: 8 sts/15 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in seed stitch.
Needles: 1 U.S. 15/10 mm 16”/40 cm or 24”/61 cm circular needle. Also, one additional U.S. 15/10 mm dpn or straight needle, to work the three-needle-bind-off.
Notions: 1.2”/28 mm (or so) button, yarn needle, stitch marker, piece of yarn or thread to sew button.
Finished Measurements:
Size Child Ages 3 to 5: Cowl Circumference: 22”/56 cm. Hood and Cowl Total Height: 14”/36 cm.
Size Child Ages 5 to 12: Cowl Circumference: 24”/61 cm. Hood and Cowl Total Height: 15.5”/39 cm.
Size Teen/Adult: Cowl Circumference: 28”/71 cm. Hood and Cowl Total Height: 18”/46 cm.
