This pattern was designed for a 14”-15” soft bodied baby doll such as the American Girl Bitty Baby®, Corolle Baby Doll®, the Mon Bebe Classique®, Baby Stella®, or 14” Madame Alexander®. If knitting for a Madame Alexander® take a few stitches (approximately 10) out of the headband as the head is smaller. If you are knitting for the American Girl Bitty Baby® you may want to make the tunic longer, but could possibly need more than one skein of yarn IF you make the shorts as well.

Most of my designs are done with straight needles, and Caron Simply Soft Light Yarns. They are soft and durable; since these clothes are designed to be played with, I want them to be machine washable, yet look nice and feel soft. I made the tunic, shorts, and headband from one skein of yarn and used almost all of it; if you choose to make the tunic a longer length you will either need a second skein of yarn or can make the shorts in the contrasting color.

The dress is worked in one piece from the top down, with an increase where the bodice starts for fullness. The leggings and shorts are also worked in one piece. The dress and headband are adorned with flowers. You will need buttons for the center of the flowers.
