The Hooked Broiche Hat is crocheted entirely in slip stitches in vertical rows, to resemble knitted brioche. Choose between three sizes (lengths): one with a closer fit around the top of the head, one with a little bit of slouch, or one with enough length for a folded brim for extra warmth.

YARN: any worsted weight yarn with good ‘bounce’ and elasticity, e.g. a soft wool or wool mix, with which you can achieve the correct gauge.

YARDAGE: c. 130 (150, 180) m/ 142 (164, 197) yards

GAUGE: 10 x 10 cm/ 4 x 4 inches =

• 16 stitches x 16-20 rows in yarn over slip stitch in back loops only (yoslst BLO)
• 18 stitches x 22-24 rows in regular slip stitch in back loops only (slst in BLO)

Slip stitch in back loops creates a very elastic, ribbed fabric, making it hard to give a precise no. of rows per 10 cm/ 4 in. Hence, focus on getting the correct stitch count; row count is somewhat less important, as long as the result is stretchy.

CROCHET HOOK: 6 mm/ J, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Hooked Brioche Hat virkas helt i olika sorters smygmaskor i vertikala varv för att efterlikna patentstickning (brioche knitting på engelska). Välj mellan tre storlekar (längder): en med mer åtsittande passform, en med lite lagom häng eller en som är tillräckligt lång för uppvikt kant.

• 16 maskor x 16-20 varv i smygmaskor med omtag i bakre maskbågen (smo i bmb)

Smygmaskor i bakre maskbågen ger ett mycket elastiskt resår-liknande resultat; det är svårt att ange exakt antal varv per 10 cm. Fokusera därför i första hand på att få rätt antal maskor per 10 cm.
