The blanket is based on an out of print pattern that one of my husband’s aunt made for her granddaughter. It is not my original design, just my interpretation of a pattern that is no longer available. You will see the owl design, which is just made by simple cables in other knitting patterns for hats and sweaters.

I have sized the blanket as a baby blanket and also as a throw. I am making a throw. We have enjoyed the owls in our back yard for many years, so I thought it appropriate that we have some owls inside too.

You can add eyes with small buttons, or even eyes and beaks and feet on the owls with yarn. Don’t use the small buttons if you are making a baby blanket because that could be a choking hazard.
