Hoot the Owl
Meet Hoot the Owl - the colourful older brother of Little Hoot the Owl. He loves to read and take care of Little Hoot (though sometimes he can be a bossy older sibling!). He also likes to look smart in his top hat!
Getting an exact gauge is not important for this project.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
- This item is a PDF that you download through Ravelry
- The finished owl ends up approximately 11cm tall (including ears) using similar yarn and hook size. Thinner yarn and a smaller hook size will produce a smaller toy and vice versa
- Gauge is not important - just make sure the stitches are tight enough so that the stuffing doesn’t show through
- The pattern is available in both UK terminology and US terminology (separate files)
- The pattern includes step-by-step instructions for sewing
SKILLS
- Suitable for advanced beginners
- Magic circle, double crochet (US - single crochet), half treble crochet (US - half double crochet), treble crochet (US - double crochet), increase, invisible decrease, crocheting around a chain, continuous rounds
MATERIALS
- Head, body, wings and ears: 8 ply (DK) cotton in blue - 50g / 120m / 131yd
- Beak: 8 ply (DK) cotton in orange - small amount
- Feathers: 8 ply (DK) cotton in light blue - small amount
- Eyes: 4 ply (Fingering) cotton in white - 3g / 12m / 13yd. Note - the pattern includes instructions if you’re using the same yarn thickness as the head and body
- Pupils: 4 ply (Fingering) cotton in black - small amount Note - the pattern includes instructions if you’re using the same yarn thickness as the head and body
- Optional Top hat: 8 ply (DK) cotton in black - 3g / 7m / 8 yd plus small amount of 8 ply (DK) cotton in white
- 3mm crochet hook for 8 ply (DK) cotton
- 2.5mm crochet hook for 4 ply (Fingering) cotton
- Yarn needle
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
